Since her
first ballet classes as a small child, Marcia has dedicated her
entire life to fitness and developing a sound mind, body, and
spirit. After graduating from Northwestern University with an art
history degree, Marcia became a certified personal trainer. Over the
next 7 years she steadily built her client base and knowledge of
anatomy and fitness. At the same time that I was becoming faster,
stronger, and better my husband, who was practicing yoga, was
becoming quieter, calmer and more aware. At his suggestion, I
attended a vinyasa flow yoga class. I was immediately hooked.
Gradually, both my workouts and my life became more yoga-centered as
I went from being simply on the mat to in the moment.
My hope is to contribute in some small way to the health and
happiness of those around me. Teacher training programs, numerous
workshops and a committed daily practice have allowed me to
understand a multitude of approaches meant to serve students of
differing needs. My teaching is influenced by many master teachers
including; Daren Friesen, Seane Corn, Shiva Rea.
Marcia's classes are designed for students who wish to focus on
form, fluidity, breath, and the cultivation of core strength,
compassion, and delight. She is on the staff of Lake Forest Academy
where she teaches teens how to connect with yoga in an authentic and
accessible way. In addition she serves as Daren Friesen's assistant
in his Healing Power Yoga Moksha Teacher Training Certification
Program. Her classes focus on form, fluidity, breath, and the
cultivation of core strength, compassion, and delight.
